Celine, between her busy schedule, sets aside time (though recently, less frequently) to indulge herself in the world of literature and sublime writing. She considers any writer an admirable character and wishes to one day join their ranks.
For now, she is a humble reader - a reader of fiction, a reader of nonfiction; a reader of avant-garde poetry and a reader of 20th century essays. Her taste varies but dwells mostly in mystery, slice-of-life stories, tragedies, realistic fiction, narrative nonfiction, and free verse poetry.
Her favorite books include Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut and The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. She would like to intervene to add that her favorite movies are Boyhood (2014), The Dead Poets'Society (1989), Whiplash (2014), and Inception (2010). She hopes that her writing will one day be published as fictional prose or as the script from which phenomenal actors will read and breathe.
Below is an age-old relic from Celine's elementary year past: The List.
I hereby announce the creation of The List, a simple yet potent list containing books that hold such enormous power that have changed or developed or affected Celine in some way or another.
Basically, the list is, well, a list, that has any books or authors who I deem worthy of having their name on it. It might be a purely addicting book, or it may be the sort that you put down and suddenly lose all ideas of what to do with your life.
(Italicized years are the dates of when I read said piece of literature.)
(Very creatively named)
The List
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, 2013
On Writing by Stephen King, 2013
"Tool or Man?" (an essay) by Hamilton Wright Mabie 2014
"a poem written by a bear" by Tao Lin 2014
Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut 2015
Love your taste! Got to make one of these lists too :)
